History: The haunting legend about the Apache Tear is about the Pinal Apaches, who had made several raids on a settlement in Arizona. The military and some volunteers trailed the tracks of the stolen cattle and waited for dawn to attack the Apaches. The Apaches, confident in the safety of their location, were completely surprised and out-numbered in the attack. Nearly 50 of the band of 75 Apaches were killed in the first volley of shots. The rest of the tribe retreated to the cliff’s edge and chose death by leaping over the edge rather than die at the hands of the white men. They are both formed by the oxidation of copper such as you would see in chalcopyrite. Less common than Malachite but found in abundance in Arizona. This stone was given its name from the Persian word, lazward, meaning blue. Used for many purposes, this stone was ground up and used as a dye to color clothing during the Greek and Roman era. The Mayans believed that azurite was able to connect them to higher wisdom. The Native Americans used azurite to connect to their spirit guides.

Barite/Barium:
Properties: Barite is used by the Native Americans in their cerimonial practices. They used it to go from physical matter to the spiritual plane. In dream therapy, barite is used to promote and stimulate the dream state, allowing one to remember their dreams. Barite has a very strong effect on and is beneficial to the psyche. It is used to assist in psychological issues, particularly obsessive-compulsive behavior, neurosis as well as agoraphobia and obsessive cleaning. Boji Stones:
Properties: are actually a trademark name for iron-magnetite concretions also called Marcasite nodules. These are one of the most grounding stones with electromagnetic properties. History: Butter stone is a piece of our history’s past. Many pieces contain evidence of the beginnings of life on Earth. During the Archean Period the surface of the earth formed, the oceans and the continents were established and life began in the shallow sea environment. There must have been seabed outcrops or lakes of considerable size, which were turbid and muddy. This residue would over time have precipitated to the bottom in layers and early algae life would have settled within these banded layers of muddy residue. Around 2.8 billion years ago the atmospheric pressure was higher and heat production around 3 times present heat production, due to increased volcanic activity. This led to the serpentinization (green color) of the sediments that had by now become hard.
Microfossils in the form of Stromatolites of blue green algae have been found in the fine laminations and may represent the beginnings of life on earth and contain a history of our own origins. Micro fossils are microscopic relics preserved in rock by being incorporated into the sediment in such a way that they are not immediately broken down but are replaced in fine detail by the fossilization process. Stromatolites are structures in the laminated sedimentary rocks built by organisms such as algae or bacteria that have precipitated carbonates from the surrounding waters. Microfossils in the form of fossilized algae are the earliest known life forms, predating the dinosaurs by 2500 million years, and represent the beginnings of life and fossils, as we know them. Unlike conventional fossil collecting, the search for microorganisms proves to be more difficult as Archean rocks do not give up their secrets easily. Identification of the microorganisms is difficult due to the lack of fine detail. There is, however, almost certain evidence of early life from about 2700 million years ago, with evidence of early life in southern Africa dated at about 3500 million years by Hamilton et al in 1979.

The name first appeared in Pliny the Elder’s Naturalis Historia as a term for a translucid kind of Jaspis. The Greek word khalkedon appears in the Book of Revelation (Apc 21,19). Chalcedony was used in the Mediterranean region during the Bronze Age. Found on Minoan Crete at the Palace of Knossos, in seals dating back to circa 1800 BC and various forms found along the Central Asian trade routes. History: Dumortierite Al7BO3(SiO4)3O3, is a fibrous variably colored aluminium boro-silicate mineral. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic system typically forming slender prismatic crystals. History: Fulgurite is the name given to fused Quartz, Si02, which has been struck by lightning and melting sand or rock. The best known fulgurites are found in quartz sand, where the fulgurite take the form of tubes, sometimes exceeding a half inch or more in diameter. This type of formation is called sand fulgurite. As the lightning strikes the Earth and courses downward through the sand, the sand is instantly super heated, melted and fused together. After cooling, hard hollow tubes can be located beneath the surface of the sand, generally decreasing in diameter and sometimes branching as they descend, sometimes extending for several feet. The outer surfaces sand fulgurites are often rough with adhering, unfused Quartz sand grains.
